Bardolino is synonymous with good wine, the nectar with the ruby red colour and delicate fragrance that is known all over the world, but it's not known only for wine. Bardolino is above all a beautiful town along the Riviera of Olives, including the equally delightful towns of Garda and Lazise.
An old fishing village long ago, it is now one of the most established and well-appointed resorts of the Riviera of Olives today, with more than 4,000 beds. Great beaches, a varied range of accommodations, sporting activities on the lake and countless opportunities for fun blend well with the richness of the historical and artistic heritage. Amid the rolling hills, you can take part in a fascinating journey into the world of wine and its history in the Wine Museum, housed in the Zeni winery in the suburb of Costabella. The village of Cisano hosts the Oil Museum, a true experience with historical and educational value, whose objective is to convey the essential aspects of olive growing and the culture of its precious fruit.
The origin of the name is probably Lombard, reminiscent of a princess "Bardali" or "Pardali" and like all countries of the Olive Riviera it was quickly was surrounded by walls, towers and fortresses, fought over by lords, monks, and emperors. In fact, next to the masterpieces of Romanesque churches, while strolling the streets of the town you cannot help but notice parts of medieval walls, doors and watch towers. But the most important vocation of the town, as it has been for the last 20 years, is fun. Indeed, it is ideal for evenings of entertainment, whether it's a rustic locale or the most modern, where you can enjoy aperitifs, buffets, dinners and after-dinner entertainment at the many bars open until late at night.
