Palazzo Ca' Montagna is the oldest and most beautiful building of San Zeno di Montagna. It's located in the quarter of the same name and takes its name from the noble Montagna family.
The building because of its architectonic characteristics it became one of the most significant examples of the top Venetian villas.
The internal walls of the two main halss are frescoed with geometric motifs derived from textile designs and thre are also some figurative frescoes: one is a " Blessing Christ" of the late fourteenth century, and an "Ecce Homo" which is probably done in the sixteenth century, and an archaic " Saint Christopher" whch can be also dated in the fourteenth century. Originally there was another fresco " The Virgin Mary on a throne with Christ child and Saints Antonio and Zeno", that came off in the sixties and recently restored and is preserved in one of the halls of the home.
The "ca dei montagne" is now the seat of the Council Chamber and the library. in the summer the courtyard is transformed into an open theatre and also into an evocative set design for theatrical and musical performances.
