Thanks to the discovery of some remains of pile-dwelling villages found along the shores of Lake Garda, including Cisano (a hamlet of Bardolino), it is clear that the first human settlements in this area date back to the Bronze Age. During archaeological excavations in 1986 in the area of the port of Cisano, in fact, traces of piles emerged from the lake bed. Today, nothing remains visible on site, but evidence, such as tools and pottery, is preserved in museums. The finds have enabled scholars to outline the lifestyle of the men who inhabited the area in this archaic period: from hunting activities to the vegetables that were consumed; the discovery of traces of seeds (grape seeds) belonging to the Vitis Silvestris, an indication of a truly remote presence of the vine in this area, is very interesting.
