From rural craftsmanship to industrial technology: this is the thread running through the Olive Oil Museum. An ancient and mighty lever press, stone millstones, screw presses and the reconstruction of a 19th century water-powered oil mill are pieces that characterise this exhibition, enriched with historical documents and educational material.
A tribute to the olive tree and its oil, elements that have marked the history and civilisation of Mediterranean peoples. The itinerary unfolds from the story of a time when processing techniques seemed immutable to the beginning of the 20th century, with the turning point offered by technological progress. On display are ancient and unusual tools that were already in use in the 18th century: lever presses, water-powered wheel presses and other original tools. A special section narrates the cultivation and production of oil through videos and educational panels.
