The tug of war has always been the heart of the summer folk festivals in our villages.
The competition has always been the soul of summer folk festivals. Initially, it involved climbing a tall wooden pole firmly planted in the ground, at the top of which trophies were hung, usually food items like salami or hams.
Being a lakeside community, the inhabitants of Lazise transformed the vertical pole into a horizontal pole well-greased, placed at the corner of the old port with a flag at the end, which must be detached and held in hand during the subsequent dive into the water to claim the prize.
This competition has become one of the most characteristic events of Lazise and the lake and consists of running along the greased pole, barefoot to successfully detach the flag placed at the tip. For as long as anyone can remember, the buteloti, the young men of Lazise, love to participate in this contest, exhilarating for the spectators but not always painless for the participants.
At the end of the evening, there will also be fireworks.
