Ondes de luj

On Friday, the 11th of July, the traditional "Ondes de Luj" festival will take place in Brenzone sul Garda.

It commemorates the vote made by the population in 1836 to ask the Madonna for help against a cholera epidemic that came from India and which quickly caused numerous victims.

The beautiful wooden statue of the Madonna Assunta is led in procession through paths between olive trees and splendid villages.

At 6.00 am there will be the first mass in the parish church of Castello, then the pilgrimage will begin through the villages, arriving in Assenza, where at 8.00, in the medieval church of San Nicola there will be the second mass. The pilgrimage will continue until reaching Castello again where it will end at 10.30 am with the solemn Holy Mass.

 In the evening, from 7.00pm, at the sports field of Castello there will be the opening of the food stands with typical local dishes, spaghetti with agole, polenta and fish of lake preparated according to traditional recipes and accompanied by lots of live music.

At 9pm performance by the Castelletto band.

At 11pm there will be a lottery prize draw and the evening will end with DJ music.
