Traditional rowing regatta on Lake Garda..
The "Regata delle Bisse", which is held on Lake Garda every year during the summer months, is a traditional Venetian rowing regatta. Its origin dates back to the period 1405-1797, when the lake was part of the Republic of Venice. With the end of the domination of Venice this tradition stopped at Lake Garda and was rediscovered at the beginning of the 20th century. The boats, the so-called "bisse" are still modelled like the former Venetian rowing boats. They are 10 meters long, 65 centimeters wide, extremely flat and have a weigth of 110 kilogramms.
The "Regata delle Bisse" takes place in Garda, Desenzano del Garda, Bardolino, Gardone Riviera, Gargnano, Peschiera del Garda, Lazise, Cassone di Malcesine and Torri del Benaco.
The date of Lazise is Saturday, 10th June.
Bisse del Garda Association, with the support of the Municipality of Lazise, organizes
Lazise 3rd Regatta on June 14, 2025.
