Getting around
comfortably
Travelling by bus around Lake Garda is a practical and convenient option, especially during the busy summer season. It allows you to avoid the stress of finding parking and travel without worrying about traffic, so you can simply relax and enjoy the journey. The buses are comfortable and air-conditioned, making them ideal even on the hottest days. Bus routes efficiently connect the main towns around the lake, making it easy to travel from one destination to another without needing a car.
Another major advantage is the frequent service: on many routes, buses run regularly throughout the day, giving you flexibility and freedom when planning your trips. For an even more enjoyable experience, you can also combine bus travel with ferry services. Lake navigation integrates perfectly with road transport, allowing you to explore the area from different perspectives.
Some towns on the eastern side of Lake Garda provide shuttle bus services designed to make travelling easier for both residents and visitors. As well as helping to reduce traffic and environmental impact, these services are particularly useful for travellers arriving without a car who wish to move easily between different areas. Towns offering shuttle services include Garda, Torri del Benaco and Malcesine.
As timetables, routes and terms of use may vary, it is always recommended to check the latest information before travelling.
During the summer season, a convenient evening bus service connects the main towns on Lake Garda with the Arena di Verona, one of the world’s most famous open-air theatres. This service is ideal for visitors wishing to attend the Verona Opera Festival without having to worry about traffic, parking or travelling back late at night.
Buses depart in the late afternoon from the main Lake Garda destinations, including Malcesine, Torri del Benaco, Garda, Bardolino, Lazise and Peschiera del Garda, arriving in Verona within easy walking distance of the Arena. At the end of the performance, return buses to Lake Garda depart 30 minutes after the opera finishes, including in the event of an early closure due to bad weather.
As the service is very popular, particularly during July and August, advance booking is required and early reservation is strongly recommended.
Visitors wishing to spend more time in Verona can travel independently using the regular daytime bus services (Lines 163, 164) and return later using the dedicated evening shuttle service after the performance.
