Bagno di Suoni - Concerto Gong

On Friday, August 21, at 5.00 p.m., at the Acquafresca beach there will be an elegant concert featuring the musical instrument gong and other instruments.

The gong is a class of musical instruments, categorized within idiophones of direct percussion, defined as containers, played with a non-sonorous object, in which the vibration is stronger near the apex.

A gong is typically made from a large metal disc, usually circular in shape. This disc can also be made of copper. The gong is generally an indefinite pitch instrument although in some percussion methods it is referred to only as a definite pitch instrument.

The gong is an instrument that dates back over 4,000 years. Although findings tend to recognize it as an instrument that originated in ancient China, it is said that the first gongs were found during archaeological excavations conducted in Greece.
