Open water swimming between sport and history
On September 19 and 20, 2026, Peschiera del Garda will host the Bastions Crossing, a stop on the Italian Open Water Tour, a circuit dedicated to open water swimming among lakes, sea, and water cities.
The event offers various swimming competitions in the stunning setting of Lake Garda, with routes that take place among the bastions of Peschiera del Garda, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Among the races scheduled are the Hard Swim of 5 km, the Fast Swim of 1 km, the Smile Swim By Night of 1.8 km, the Super Smile Swim of 3 km, and the Relay Swim, a team relay.
Particularly captivating is the Smile Swim By Night, which allows participants to experience open water swimming even in the evening hours, with the walls of Peschiera illuminated as a backdrop to the competition.
The Peschiera stop also represents the final event of the 2026 Lakes Challenge, dedicated to the main open water swimming events hosted on Italian lakes.
