In 1968 Bardolino was awarded DOC status, and named after the town of Bardolino.

Bardolino is a wine region located in the province of Verona, along the eastern shore of Lake Garda, also known as ‘La Riviera degli Ulivi’. This place is not only famous for its wines, but also produces an exceptional extra virgin olive oil. This district is part of the Veneto wine region in north-eastern Italy. The Veneto wine region includes the municipalities of Garda, Bardolino, Affi, Cavaion Veronese, Pastrengo, Lazise and Castelnuovo del Garda. In total, there are 15 municipalities. With the region's perfect climate and morphological characteristics, Bardolino is home to numerous high-quality wines. Today, Bardolino wine is a favourite among wine lovers.
