A challenging circular tour, leading you from San Michele to Tratto Spino ascending from Forcella Valdritta on path n 5.
A 17-kilometers trek awaits you involving 2500 meters of elevation gain and 1400 meters of elevation loss.
The route is varied and suggestive, with many typical stunning views over Lake Garda.
We suggest this route if you need to spend a day away from the hustle and bustle of the town: this itinerary is not so popular and this will allow you to immerse yourself in an uncontaminated nature with an alpine taste.
The route starts at the Malcesine Monte Baldo half-way cable car station walking on a concrete uphill road to Capitello del Signor. Turn right at the junction towards Piombi walking on mule track.
Once you have crossed the clearing of Piombi turn right, then left, following road signs to Forcella Valdritta. Walk into the wood inside the "Riserva Naturale Integrale Lastoni Pezzi".
At the next junction leave the trail following road signs to "Water 100 m" on the right, where there's a little natural fountain with a nice view over Lake Garda and the steep valleys of Mount Baldo.
Go back and keep ascending on the left. Spaces open up now, walk on moved rocks with some steep sections. The environment looks more and more alpine and if you keep silent, you could also have the chance to meet some chamois.
In the valley below Forcella Valdritta, there's the last section, the most demanding. Climb it up to the ridge of the mountain trail of Mount Baldo crests 651. Head north following road signs to Cima Valdritta, Tratto Spino and Monte Altissimo.
To reach Cima Valdritta, the highest of Mount Baldo, you have to leave the trail and climb up to the top. You can find road signs on your left.
After a well-deserved break at Cima Valdritta, go down following the same path and keep going, walking to the north on constant ups and downs, with some challenging sections.
You'll walk on the western side and before getting to Cima Pozzette you'll have to walk on a short equipped section. Keep going on the eastern side:the descent to Tratto Spino at the Malcesine Monte Baldo cable car starts at Cima Pozzette.
From Tratto Spino go back to San Michele by cable car.
The half way station of Malcesine Monte Baldo cable car is reachable by car going up on the Via Panoramica or by cable car from the station in Malcesine.
