The Fortino Belvedere in Pastrengo is a symbolic site dedicated to the memory of the famous Charge of the Mounted Carabinieri on 30 April 1848, one of the most significant events of the First Italian War of Independence. Designed by architect Giorgio Forti and inaugurated in 2009, the fort was created to restore visibility and value to a historical episode deeply connected to the local area.
Located in the Morsella area, in a panoramic position at the entrance to the town, the Fortino Belvedere overlooks the very places where the charge took place, offering visitors a privileged viewpoint over this historic landscape. Beyond its architectural value, the structure serves an important commemorative and educational purpose.
Outside, engraved brass plaques translated into several languages briefly describe the Charge, while inside, along the balcony, illustrated panels outline the different phases of the battle, allowing visitors to gain a clear and independent understanding of the historical event.
