Parish Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

In the heart of Pastrengo stands the Parish Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, an example of eighteenth-century architecture that holds centuries of history and devotion.

Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when a primitive chapel was built between the 11th and 12th centuries, later becoming an autonomous parish in 1588. The current structure is the result of a complete reconstruction that began in 1711 and was completed in 1757, to which the majestic bell tower was added in 1829, raised from a previous sixteenth-century tower. Outside, the church welcomes visitors with an elegant facade featuring graceful and harmonious lines. Crossing the threshold, the interior reveals a single spacious nave, along which four side chapels open, dedicated to Saint Anthony, Saints Louis and Charles, the Mysteries of the Rosary, and Saint Cajetan of Thiene.

A true treasure of the church is its rich pictorial heritage, particularly linked to the Veronese School of the eighteenth century: among the most valuable works are the canvases by Francesco Lorenzi, especially the Altarpiece with the Vision of Saint Helena, alongside splendid paintings attributed to local masters such as Boscarati and Lonardi, which make this parish church an unmissable stop for lovers of sacred art visiting Pastrengo.
