Ristorante Da Umberto

A renowned gastronomic and cultural landmark in the heart of Castelletto.

It was founded as a small inn in the very early years of the last century, a favorite gathering place for fishermen and sailors. With the completion of the Gardesana road, the flow of visitors increased, yet the place remained true to its roots. In 1963, a turning point came with Uncle Umberto, who, after gaining experience abroad, returned to Castelletto full of new ideas. The result was a triumph of colors, flowers, and cheerfulness that brought life to the harbor and attracted the first tourists. House-made lasagna, trout, and lavarello became the restaurant’s signature dishes, and its reputation continued to grow through the late 1980s.

The restaurant Da Umberto, no longer just a simple inn but a renowned dining spot, was further strengthened by the arrival of Loris (Umberto’s brother), who, after a magical experience at Don Pedro, joined Umberto in running the place. In the early 1990s, the next generation—Umberto’s children, Luca and Cristiana—became part of the team. Working alongside their parents, they actively contributed to solidifying the well-established reputation the restaurant had already earned. There is one word that perfectly captures its story: “Da Umberto—the heart of Castelletto.”
