The tour

A quite challenging one that takes you from Malcesine to San Michele climbing from San Maggiore and along trail number 7 leading to Piombi. From Piombi it ascends to San Michele on trail number 2.

You will face 10km of almost 1500m of ascending height difference and 1200m descending height difference.

The trail is varied: it alternates between panoramic points over the Lake and over the valleys and the tops of Monte Baldo.
Along the trail you will also find nice stretches into the wood where you will cross the Integral Natural Reserve Lastoni Pezzi.

Trail description

From Malcesine you go up the Navene Vecchia road and shortly before the cablecar station enter the ascending tarmac road on the right, at the crossroad turn right then right again to end up on the Panoramica road.

Keep going uphill and at the end of the hairpin bends, before the Hotel Panorama, turn right uphill and follow indications for San Maggiore/Malga Fiabio.

Continue your climb, first on tarmac then on white road,
to the beginning of the wood. From there it becomes more challenging with sloped stretches, sometimes on concrete, leading you to Fiabi.

Once you have reached the meadow of Fiabi, enter the trail number 7 on your left and in about a one hour walk you will get to Piombi.
Cross the wood and the Marola valley and walk uphill going between stretches of wood and panoramic view points.

From Piombi go straight ahead downhill on trail number 2 and in less than an hour the tarmac road of Prai leads you to San Michele.

From an Michele you can go back to Malcesine with the cablecar Malcesine Monte Baldo.

To go back to Malcesine by feet

Continue downhill on the main road north of the station. Once on panoramica road, in Passo Campiano, turn right and at the end of the first descent turn left. Keep descending following indications for Malcesine. From Paier enter the muletrack that in 15 minutes takes you to Malcesine at the same crossroad you took at the beginning of the tour.
