In neoclassical style, the Parish Church of San Pietro in Cattedra was built in 1753, on the ruins of a previous church from the 1600s, but some documents testify to a Romanesque parish church from 1145.
The façade, never completed with the planned marble covering, is characterized by the rough beauty of the courses of river pebbles.
The entrance, framed in marble, has been enriched by an artistic bronze portal made in 2006, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of its consecration.
Inside, a large nave directs the gaze towards an immense altarpiece from the 1800s. On the left, a magnificent pipe organ (1812) by G.B. Sona, from the Veneto-Gardesana school of the 18th century, completely restored and perfectly functional.
A brief mention is also deserved by the 16th-century chapel of the Oratorio, which stands in the small square on the left side of the church. Recently restored, it represents the oldest sacred building in Valeggio. In our parish, there used to be four other chapels dedicated to S.Zeno, S.Rocco, S.Giorgio, and S.Giustina, of which unfortunately only a few traces remain.
