Sfida delle Carbonere

Also in the year 2026, on the occasion of the Ancient Fair of Santa Caterina, the much-anticipated Challenge of the Charcoal Makers returns

It is a culinary event that takes place in Castelletto di Brenzone.
Here are the main details:

It is a team competition among the districts of the municipality of Brenzone on Lake Garda, each preparing the traditional dish of “carbonera” (or “carbonère”).

The dish: polenta to which local cheeses and local oil are added, cooked in a copper pot.

The best Carbonera will be awarded by a popular jury and a quality jury.

The preparation of the dish will begin at 9:00 a.m., while the tasting will start from 12:00 p.m.

In case of bad weather, the challenge will be postponed to Sunday, November 22.
